Surprisingly, “Cavemen” Doesn’t Suck
Yeah, I know it’s a shock. I tuned in last night to the new ABC sitcom Cavemen under the assumption that it was going to be a train wreck.
It was actually pretty funny; I laughed out loud in parts. And hey, it featured a Wii in a couple scenes, which was cool. While Neanderthals are the primary characters (delivered in the same put-upon style as the Geico ads), it also featured that blonde dude from Grandma’s Boy as a human sidekick. Anyway, it’s worth watching.
In other fall TV news, so far NBC’s new shows are the winners in my book. Chuck is the show I like best, with a good mix of comedy and over-the-top action. I had high hopes for Bionic Woman, but the premiere left me with mixed feelings–parts of its premise are paper thin. I’ve also enjoyed Journeyman, mostly for the actors involved.
I recorded Dirty Sexy Money because I like Peter Krause a lot, but I haven’t watched it yet. On the reality front, Kitchen Nightmares is the only new (yeah, I know there’s a British version) show I’m watching, because I can’t get enough of Gordon screaming at people.

yeah, i’m addicted to kitchen nightmares now. Gordon Ramsay Rules. You can watch the full episodes of it online too.

I’ve been TiVoing it for months. (The UK version). Prawns with chocolate … chicken stuffed with banana … No greater thing that watching Gordon yell at a mother and 2 daughters to grow some bollocks
Met Gordon Ramsey last year. Was VERY disappointed indeed. A very very nice guy and he didn’t swear once
Heheh, I think I would have been happier if he ranted at me…as it was, something felt kinda out of kilter! He was too nice !! hehe.
I watched Pushing Daisies last night, and it was amazing! One of the most original shows I’ve seen in ages.
I think the caveman commercials are amazingly good, although really they don’t sell car insurance that well, it’s more about the nuances and the actors are perfect.
I was sad to see that they have different actors and from what I saw I pretty much did not want to soil my opinion of the commercials by watching a horrible show so I skipped it. I will however check it out now because of your recommendation.
I think the only new fall shows I’ve seen are Journeyman which is like Quantum Leap but there’s something missing, and that something would have to be Scott Bakula. Seriously though the show is pretty generic and I dunno, it doesn’t make me give a damn about any of the characters.
Life is a horrible show, I only caught the first episode and that was because of the lead actor who was great in Band of Brothers. In this though he plays a mentally disturbed former cop who is now a cop again after having spent 12 years in prison for a crime he didn’t do. I mean mentally disturbed in that he looks at the world in bizarre, Jeff Goldblum like crazy way. Basically I wanted to frame him again for another murder within 20 minutes of seeing and hearing him talk.
Lastly and this has to be the best show of the Fall, it’s Kid Nation. I mean seriously what could go wrong if you drop 40 kids off in the desert for 40 days? While it’s a tad dissapointing how much the producers influence the council members and thus the structure of the show, it’s still clear that left alone the kids would have come up with a society that is similar to our own, and they fight over the same trivial things we fight about.
