It was a great interview and I'm pleased to see that you got mentioned Steve.

I'll settle for seeing the history of the world expressed in the "present" of the game through storytelling, quests, references to older civilizaton and history, etc. I remember reading the "backstory" about the gods from EQ as I started adventuring in Norath and there was so much there that didn't really get realized in the actual game. I hope the work that is happening with the history of the "Copernicus" world finds its way into the fabric of the world we will play in.

For now, I'd just be happy to know what the world is called. :)

Lore isn't what makes an MMO. It is what makes an MMO cherished. I honestly can't wait to see what you guys are cooking up. Storytelling is why we all got into this in the first place.

So will the average joe ake ME ever get to see this 10,000 years of history?

I really wish I could answer this question the way I want to.

Instead, all I'll say is that we didn't write all this stuff merely for our own amusement. This kind of depth means nothing if players don't experience it in a meaningful way.

if you read the NPC comments and any books that are (hopefully) lying around (or a library or knowledge repository, assuming the world has such a thing), I'm willing to bet it'll be accessable.

That was an exceptional interview. I really enjoyed reading about the way he is approaching the game world. That sort of depth and planning will yield a solid feel to the game and draw players in more. It seems like we'll see more lore instead of randomly generated content.

I was also thrilled to see his opinion of EverQuest. That bodes well for those of us who think that game is a better basis for future games.

He also spilled a little bit about your position! Overlord Steve sounds about right.
